Boy: Do you love me?

Dramatic, emo 14-year-old girl: I'm not sure. I’ll have to think about it.

Maybe it’s a judgment
Judged by the guilty
With you I’m content
But I like feeling empty

Maybe I’m just insecure
And I need assurance
Maybe you’re interpreting something
That I just don’t understand

Maybe I love you
Maybe I know it
But there’s a doubt
And it’s eating me

Maybe I’m really hungry
And you’re feeding me cutleries
Maybe you were wrong
Thinking I would change

Maybe I’ve been had
Because I can’t say no
And I can’t say yes
In terms of maybes.

Girl: I love you. (Thinking: I’ll be damned if I had to write a poem every time I hear that question.)
